Lionsgate pipped to make Dead Island Movie

Lionsgate has purchased the rights to make a Dead Island film based purely on the hype generated by the impressive trailer. The announcement was made today and Lionsgate had very little to say about the content of the game, but focused heavily on how many times the trailer was viewed online and how many publications called it the best trailer ever. Lionsgate’s co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake said, “This is exactly the type of property we’re looking to adapt at Lionsgate – it’s sophisticated, edgy, and a true elevation of a genre that we know and love. It also has built in brand recognition around the world, and franchise potential.” Lionsgate has no concrete plans on directors or actors at the moment, but they do have Sean Daniel producing who was involved in films like The Mummy, Tombstone, and Dazed and Confused. Lionsgate president Joe Drake announced that they will be making a Dead Island movie. “Like the trailer that will serve as its primary creative inspiration, the film Dead Island will be an innovation of the zombie genre because of its focus on human emotion, family ties and non-linear storytelling. Said Drake of the property’s acquisition, “Like the hundreds of journalists and millions of fans who were so passionate and vocal about the Dead Island trailer, we too were awestruck.” He continued, “This is exactly the type of property we’re looking to adapt at Lionsgate – it’s sophisticated, edgy, and a true elevation of a genre that we know and love. It also has built in brand recognition around the world, and franchise potential.” The producer will be Sean Daniel, who also produced The Mummy, Tombstone, and Dazed and Confused. No word on the actors that will be involved or the director that will take the project. About the trailer: The main purpose of a debut trailer is to give you sense of remembrance for the media. Once you see a debut trailer it has to embed the content into your mind so that when the property releases, you remember it. Well, there’s no denying that Dead Island’s debut trailer was one worth remembering, and it’s a trailer gamers are still talking about to this very day. Nevertheless, this was another hard decision because the debut trailer category consisted of amazing debut trailers, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Epic Games’ real-time next-gen trailer called The Samaritan, which showed off dazzling new features for the Unreal Engine 3. However, only one trailer created waves like no other trailer this year and that honor goes to Dead Island. Directed by Stuart Aitken from Axis Studios and made in collaboration with Deep Silver, the Dead Island debut cinematic sequence easily surpassed 2 million views shortly after it went online and within two days movie studios were vying for the rights to the Dead Island movie license. Deep Silver’s global business development director and acting producer on the project, Malte Wagener, stated that… “We set out to create a rather unique trailer concept that would focus on delivering emotion and atmosphere while transporting the key elements and features of Dead Island. (Image: Patrick George/Ikon Images/Getty) The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has quietly released details of plans to continuously monitor the global output of Facebook, Twitter and other social networks, offering a rare glimpse into an activity that the FBI and other government agencies are reluctant to discuss publicly. The plans show that the bureau believes it can use information pulled from social media sites to better respond to crises, and maybe even to foresee them. The information comes from a document released on 19 January looking for companies who might want to build a monitoring system for the FBI. It spells out what the bureau wants from such a system and invites potential contractors to reply by 10 February. The bureau’s wish list calls for the system to be able to automatically search “publicly available” material from Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites for keywords relating to terrorism, surveillance operations, online crime and other FBI missions. Agents would be alerted if the searches produce evidence of “breaking events, incidents, and emerging threats”. Agents will have the option of displaying the tweets and other material captured by the system on a map, to which they can add layers of other data, including the locations of US embassies and military installations, details of previous terrorist attacks and the output from local traffic cameras. The document suggests that the bureau wants to use social media to target specific users or groups of users. It notes that agents need to “locate bad actors…and analyze their movements, vulnerabilities, limitations, and possible adverse actions”. The LA show tease will come as Wii U launch details are locked in – and should ensure no ground is lost between competing consoles. It will mark the very first time in the show’s 17-year history that three fresh, rival console formats will be so directly comparable. Test has assessed the best breast! A Doctor has worked out what makes the perfect boobs – after carefully analysing 100 page 3 girls. Plastic surgeon Patrick Mallucci identified four key features during a three-month study. First, the part of the breast lying below the nipple was ten% fuller than that above it – like those of page 3 girl Hollie (right) and model Kelly Brook (below). Next, the nipples themslves were angled upwards at 20 degrees. Finally the skin sloped flatly or inwards above the nipple, and curved outwards below it.
