While James Mangold’s The Wolverine is ramping up the publicity for its release this summer, principal photography for X-Men: Days of Future Past is just getting started. And though official publicity for that project won’t begin for quite some time, director Bryan Singer has already released a number of revealing images via Twitter. Indeed, since pre-production began, Singer has tweeted glimpses of everything from Nicholas Hoult in the new Beast makeup to Patrick Stewart as Professor X to Halle Berry in her new Storm outfit (among other things). Now he’s at it again, having recently tweeted the first image of Wolverine on the Days of Future Past set. Check it out below, courtesy of Bryan Singer’s Twitter account: CLICK FOR FULL-SIZED...
Sharlto Copley to Star in Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Chappie’...
posted by Screen Rant
Sharlto Copley and Neill Blomkamp have a good thing going. After working together in the Oscar-nominated 2009 film District 9, the pair reunited for Blomkamp’s Elysium. Now, according to a new report, the actor will be rejoining Blomkamp for his new film, Chappie. Entertainment Weekly was the first to report the casting, though Copley hinted at the news this past weekend in a Facebook post. So far, not much is known about the movie, apart from the fact that it’s a sci-fi comedy set in an “unusual setting.” (However, our own Kyle Hembree did have some interesting theories in a recent article. The trailer for Elysium looks great, which is good news for fans of original sci-fi. … Click to continue reading Sharlto Copley to Star in Neill Blomkamp’s...
Steven Soderbergh Talks ‘Magic Mike 2′...
posted by Screen Rant
After Magic Mike became one of the biggest surprise hits of 2012, there was seemingly instant talk of a Magic Mike 2. While the first film was charming, funny and sensitive, for many, its premise seemed more suited to a standalone story. However, in a recent interview, director Steven Soderbergh talked about the sequel’s progress and noted that the filmmakers still have plenty of fresh material to work with. While talking with Pride Source earlier this week, Soderbergh – who is still set to take a break from directing - said that he has been lending a helping hand in developing Magic Mike 2, which is fraught with story ideas based on Channing Tatum’s real-life experiences as an exotic dancer that Soderbergh couldn’t fit into the first film. Here’s more of … Click to continue reading Steven Soderbergh Talks ‘Magic Mike...
Kevin Feige on ‘Iron Man 3′ and the Shared Marvel Movie Universe...
posted by Screen Rant
Shared universes are old hat in the comic book world, and in the case of Marvel most of their mainstream comics take place within the continuity of Earth-616. This reality exists within a multiverse that consists of hundreds of known universes and potentially thousands more (incidentally, the reality we currently live in – devoid of superheroes, mutants and special powers – is Earth-1218). However, on the big screen, a shared universe has rarely been tried before – largely because keeping continuity between sharply branching movie franchises with different producers, screenwriters and directors working on each film (in addition to orchestrating huge and potentially highly impactful events for their plots) is an exhausting task. No one knows that better than Marvel Studios’ President of Production, Kevin Feige, who has been a producer on almost every single Marvel movie … Click to continue reading Kevin Feige on ‘Iron Man 3′ and the Shared Marvel Movie...
J.J. Abrams Wants John Williams to Compose ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ Score...
posted by Screen Rant
Disney rocked the entertainment world last fall with news that it had acquired Lucasfilm and planned to re-launch the Star Wars film franchise, starting with Episode 7 in 2015. Just as millions of fanboys voices cried out, they were suddenly silenced as the questions started to arise. Now that we know J.J. Abrams is set to direct the film and that the original trio of lead actors is all but confirmed to return, one big remaining question is whether or not John Williams – who composed the music for all six episodes of the Star Wars saga (yes, even the much-debated prequels) will return. The composer himself has expressed interest in coming back, but since then, little has been said of his possible involvement. Now, according to Trek Movie, Abrams recently said that he expects Williams … Click to continue reading J.J. Abrams Wants John Williams to Compose ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′...
‘Violet & Daisy’ Trailer: Teen Assassins Meet Their Match...
posted by Screen Rant
Violet & Daisy are killers – hired assassins who can empty a room of life without blinking an eye. They’re also a pair of teenage girls. Both treat the death business like a delightful romp. When they accept a job that’s not what it seems, their veneer of spunky detachment is stripped away and they are plunged into a struggle to survive. The titular duo of Violet & Daisy is played by Alexis Bledel (Mad Men) and Saoirse Ronan (Byzantium). The film also features Danny Trejo (Machete Kills), James Gandolfini (Killing Them Softly), and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (RoboCop). Violet & Daisy is written and directed by Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious). This preview pulls off the admirable trick of showing plenty of Violet & Daisy without giving … Click to continue reading ‘Violet & Daisy’ Trailer: Teen Assassins Meet Their...
‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Adds ‘Precious’ Star Gabourey Sidibe...

All signs point to American Horror Story season 3 being its best yet. This may be difficult after the aliens, Santa Claus spree killers, and other general madness of season 2′s storyline, but a glance at American Horror Story: Coven‘s growing cast list indicates that showrunner Ryan Murphy has ambitious plans indeed. Say what you will about Murphy, but he does have a knack for recruiting top-flight talent. Having already pulled Kathy Bates (Midnight in Paris) in for the new season, American Horror Story: Coven has now signed Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe, star of 2009′s Precious. Sidibe was announced via Murphy’s Twitter account and she will join a confirmed cast that includes Bates and a returning Jessica Lange (The Vow). Allison Williams Eyed for ‘Fantastic Four’; Circles Shakespeare Retelling ‘Rosaline’...
posted by Screen Rant
Out of the four leading ladies featured on HBO and creator/star Lena Dunham’s cult hit TV series, Girls, Allison Williams (who portrays Marnie on the show) is the only one who has yet to appear in a feature-length movie. That will soon change, now that Williams – the daughter of NBC Nightly news anchor Brian Williams – is on the verge of signing on for a retelling of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, titled Rosaline. What’s undoubtedly more interesting to our fellow comic book readers out there, is the news that Williams has been shortlisted for the Fantastic Four movie reboot. The superhero flick is developing from 20th Century Fox, which has a 2015 release date in mind and Josh Trank (Chronicle) guiding the whole thing … Click to continue reading Allison Williams Eyed for ‘Fantastic Four’; Circles Shakespeare Retelling...
Chris Hardwick Gets Late Night Talk Show on Comedy Central...
posted by Screen Rant
Comedian Chris Hardwick is all over the place. From Talking Dead to The Nerdist on BBC America (which shares the name with his popular podcast and website), the nerdy funnyman has made quite a name for himself with a niche audience. But he’s not done yet. Comedy Central is looking to expand their late night talk show block with a new show from Chris Hardwick and Funny or Die, airing four nights a week following the one-two political satire punch of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. Deadline says Reno 911! creators and stars Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (who also wrote the Night at the Museum film series) will serve as executive producers and showrunners on the series, which is described as a comedic panel show that will utilize social media...
Damon Lindelof Talks ‘World War Z’ Rewrites and the Original Ending...
posted by Screen Rant
Paramount’s World War Z adaptation – with Marc Forster directing and Brad Pitt starring – lingered in pre-production for longer than was expected, before it gained the necessary funding to begin production. Unfortunately, the hardest part had yet to come, as the zombie apocalypse blockbuster ended up delayed from a December 2012 release date to June 2013, so as to allow for extensive reshoots (around seven weeks’ worth) after the shooting script’s third act and ending had been rewritten. Screenwriters Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) and Damon Lindelof (Prometheus) were approached by the WWZ producers about how to change – or, rather, how to fix – the final act. However, it was Lindelof, not Goddard, who ended up making the real significant contribution – enough so that, by the looks of … Click to continue reading Damon Lindelof Talks ‘World War Z’ Rewrites and the Original...

Now that only three episodes are left in Doctor Who Season 7, speculation is at an all time high – as fans pour over the story so far in anticipation of the upcoming (and possibly controversial) finale. BBC has released official synopses and titles for the remaining episodes and, while week to week viewing is sure to shed light on a few secrets, where Steven Moffat (show runner and lead writer) intends to take the series in season 8 is becoming an increasingly frequent topic of discussion. Season finales are always a big deal but a trip to Trenzalore would mean major changes for the Doctor and the show – changes that would only be compounded by events in the 50th anniversary … Click to continue reading ‘Doctor Who’ Season 8 Adds New Executive Producer – Could He Take Over for...
Three New Limited Edition ‘Iron Man 3′ Posters Revealed by Mondo...

Phase Two of Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe is about to begin with the release of Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, and the general consensus from critics is that it’s a strong – if flawed – beginning for the next arc of superhero stories from Marvel. Robert Downey Jr. returns as the titular character with Ben Kingsley as new antagonist The Mandarin and Don Cheadle in spiffy new patriotic armor as War Machine. The final poster in IMAX’s 12:01 series – which has since evolved into IMAX Fanfix – is a unique print designed by comic artist Jock, but if you didn’t manage to get tickets to a midnight IMAX screening then don’t worry – there’s still a chance to get your own piece of limited edition Iron Man 3 … Click to continue reading Three New Limited Edition ‘Iron Man 3′ Posters Revealed by...
